NOTE: Although we provide this general information and links to 3rd-party sites, please also do your own research to make sure you're making an informed decision based on your own personal situation. Things are changing all the time and governments update their requirements frequently so for the latest, up to date information, always check your local government's website and that of the country you'll be travelling to.
Personal health & safety
Government and health advice regarding COVID-19 continues to change frequently around the world. To ensure your personal health and safety, we strongly recommend that you read and adhere to the
health recommendations of the World Health Organisation and your local government bodies.
Border restrictions & entry requirements
Most countries around the world have implemented additional entry requirements or closed their borders for international travellers. It is important that before you book your trip, you're aware of the entry requirements of both the country you'll be travelling to and that of your own country of residence for when you return. You may also need to consider the situation in any of the countries you'll be transiting through.
You'll need to take into account that some countries may require you to go into mandatory quarantine upon arrival for between 7-14 days (costs to be covered by you). Some countries also request you to provide a valid, negative COVID-19 test result before you arrive and may ask you to do another test upon arrival. Depending on the country or airline you're flying with, proof of vaccination may also be required.
Accommodation health & safety precautions
Most accommodation providers have implemented additional cleaning practises along with policies and procedures to ensure the safety of guests. Where provided, information about these additional precautions is listed on the accommodation details page.
Depending on the accommodation you book, you can expect contactless check-in/ check-out, temperature checks, protective equipment worn by staff, closure of certain guest amenities such as pools, spas, bars and restaurant etc. You may also be required to provide proof of vaccination or medical exemption. This information will be displayed on the accommodation details page when provided by the property. As things change frequently, we recommend you contact the accommodation directly with any questions using the contact details provided in the confirmation email after you've made the booking.
Changes & cancellations
If you need to change or cancel your booking due to COVID-19, be sure to check the cancellation terms for your booking.
Retrieve your itinerary online to see if your reservation qualifies for free cancellation. If it doesn't, you can still cancel, but standard cancellation policies will apply.
Future bookings
Before confirming an accommodation booking you should be clear on the cancellation terms should you need to cancel. Cancellation and refund terms vary greatly between providers in different destinations. Please do not assume that you will be entitled to a refund if you need to cancel due to COVID-19. The safest approach is to book a 'refundable' rate and ensure that your booking is covered by an appropriate level of travel insurance.
Travel Insurance
If you have travel insurance, check your policy to see if events like a pandemic are covered. Please be aware that coverage may depend on exactly when you purchased your travel insurance policy and/or when you booked your accommodation. Not all travel insurance companies cover for COVID-19 related events.
